A hexagram is a six pointed star composed of two overlapped triangles, found in use by a number of faiths and cultures. Outside of the cross and the swastika, the hexagram is one of the oldest and most universal spiritual symbols. The hexagram is associated with the Biblical Solomon, best known as the Star of David in the Jewish religion.
The Seal of Solomon
In Ritual Magick, the hexagon is called the Seal of Solomon, and represents Divine Union, being composed of a female, watery triangle, and a male, fiery triangle. The traditional elemental triangles of earth, air, water, and fire are derived from the seal. According to a very old legend, the seal was engraved upon a magic ring, which Solomon used to control demons, which he enslaved to build his famous temple. When the points of a hexagram are connected, a hexagon is formed. Kabbalistically, the hexagram represents the Sefirah Tifaret, perfection.
Hindu Shatkona In the Hindu religion, the hexagram is called the Shatkona, and is equivalent to the symbolism in ritual magic. The Shatkona is the combination of the Shiva kona (trikona, triangle), the symbol of the God Shiva, representing the element of fire, and the Shakti kona, representing the element of water. Together, they represent the union of male and female, and the heart chakra.

I thought the star of David was also called the Star of Remphan?
Hello, this is my favorite symbol, the other being the ouroboros, and I’m wondering if any one could tell me about a picture I found on the internet of a hexagram encircled by the ouroboros. I think it’s really fantastic but I’m not sure what it is used for, where it came from, or what it means, and I don’t want to guess wrong. This is the image: http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/ee/32/e3/ee32e3a5a955c5d0e6d3a7fde59ecdb2.jpg
Also, I do know that this is part of the symbol for the Theosophical Society.
Thank you, have a nice day.
The center is the Shambhala healing tools Shambhala Star radiator, The Star of David or the other names they call it, yet the dragon is actually gong the wrong way & is not following the clockwise path of good dharhma, Godliness, so I do not recommend your symbol & believe it represents evil, like the witches or warlocks, demon,s deivl, wizards go to sacred sites & go backward like this to destroy mankind & try to bring about an adrongounous being which would destroy humanity. Best to exercise the symbol by putting the overlapping ooosite triangles, Shambhal Star over each part of the dragons starting at the top & going right clockwise then it will have no evil anymore. i just did it telepathically for you & all, yet printing it & doing it will help ends the curses they try to do on us, the satanist symbols shouldn’t; be printed, it should be outlaid since it’s harmful for anyone to even look anthem if they don;t know how to protect themselves. I have children & do not think anyone has a right to put evil satanistic symbols on the internet since it hurts all being,s including God. Please Symbol dictionary, you will prosper much better without the evil symbols on your site & please do not have the Shambhala Star Radiator, Star of David under the same category, eliminate the satanist category please for the highest & best good of all beings, as well as definition satanism, pictures, etc. thank you

Hey, this image is clearly an Alchemic illustration, in the center you find the Solomon Seal, as written above then the Winged Dragon represents Alchemic Sulphur, the fixed and unchangeable, the Sun, the man or King. The Wingless Dragon represents Alchemic Mercury, the volatile and sensitive, the mysterious, the woman or Queen. The connection between Fire and Air with Water and Earth. The alignment of the opposites which is so important in Alchemy. All of the symbols inside the hexagram are common alchemic symbols. Triangles facing up represent FIRE, facing down means WATER, facing up with a bar across means AIR and the opposite means EARTH.
Right in the centre you have the holy Trinity of Alchemy. The symbols of Sulphur, Mercury and Salt. Hope this helps.
im so getting this tattooed
I suggest for this you add information regarding the Merkaba, as this is also its image.
