Pentagram (pentacle, pentangle, pentalpha)

The pentagram is a five pointed star commonly associated with Wicca, Ritual magick, Satanism, and Masonry. The Pentagram has a long and complex history as a religious symbol. Found scrawled in caves of ancient Babylonia, the five pointed star was copied from the star shaped pattern formed by the travels of the planet Venus in the sky.

The emblem remained popular through many cultures and time periods- it was called the pentalpha by the Greeks, who believed it had magical properties.

For a time, a pentagram was the official seal of the city of Jerusalem:

In later times, it was used by medieval Christians to symbolize the five wounds of Christ, and figured in the heavily symbolic Arthurian romances. In medieval times, the pentagram represented the proportions of the human body.

Through the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the pentagram was commonly used (ironically) as a charm against witches and demons. (like other protective knots, it was considered effective only if drawn perfectly)

It was not until the twentieth century that the pentagram became associated with Satanism, probably due to misinterpretation of symbols used by ceremonial magicians.

In alchemical texts, the four elements (in Latin)- flatus, ignus, aqua, terra, superseded by light, or divine energy- illustrated the process of creation, and the biblical motto Fiat Lux, or, “let there be light.”

In Wiccan/Pagan lore, the pentagram symbolizes the five elements- earth, air, water, fire, and spirit. The Wiccan emblematic pentagram faces point upward to symbolize the triumph of spirit over matter; the modern Satanic pentagram is transposed, point downwards, to symbolize earthly gratification, or the triumph of the individual over dissolution. Some Wiccan initiatory grades also utilize a reversed pentacle, although for different purposes.

A pentacle used for ritual purposes in Gardnerian Wicca

A pentagram enclosed within a circle is known as a pentacle, although pentacles do not always contain pentagrams.

Shayene Deathstalker March 26, 2016 at 1:27 am

Wow… So many religions and so little good sense. Don’t remember who of you said it, but I agree with the statement against organized religion. We are not mentally evolved enough as a species to pretend to know the truth. We’re not even evolved enough to get over our primal animalistic need of power over our own species. You all preach your gods and your religions as if it was your salvation, but most of you just use it as an escape from reality rather than any real conviction. I do happen to know a lot about pentagrams and many other primal and norse/baltic symbols (I’m Lithuanian and trust me mythology takes a good part of our history and literature cursus), but I have never thought so many people would go to such length to transform an article about a symbol, a mark (am I the only one who thinks this whole business a joke or is that just me?!) into a religious battle royal, just to appropriate it’s origin. And for all the supposed pagans, I really hope you chose one of the right pagan movements, cause there are some whose deities required a human sacrifice for their blessings I.e. Vikings sacrificed 9 warriors to buy the favors of their gods. For the rest of you I really wish that each and one of you would take what passes for a reference book for your religious movement and read it from beginning to the end. Without interpreting it, just reading as you would read a school book. I’m sure that after doing it you’ll see your ways clearer.

Anonymous January 31, 2017 at 4:06 pm

There are no required human sacrifices. Some involve animal sacrifices but 95% of us pagans dont do that. I suggest reading the original book of shadows or going on the sacred text website.

Kayn May 6, 2018 at 4:05 am

I would like to hear more from you. You seem to know a lot and i would like to see my ways clearer. Please aid me for i seek knowledge and i think u can help me. If so, mold it be.

Karyn for some reason I have been compelled to write to you!! Not that I am criticising anyone, please do not think that! But beware always of false prophets!! Have the confidence to know you can follow your own path on your quest for knowledge. Read, listen and learn from as many different sources as u can. But beware as the misunderstanding of some of our topics here can lead to dark places. Seek for the truth, the love and the light. Make sure you are spiritually protected when acquiring information on certain topics. Enjoy your learning as you have the potential to become very wise but be cautious! I do not know why I feel I have to write to you. Please don’t b e offended, I don’t think you can t think for yourself, I just have felt I must write and ask u to be cautionary for some strange reason. Enjoy your journey kayn, xx

Religion is like windows software and by time the new version is presented many people will argue bout it even its the same things after all

Paul Mac Kay March 6, 2017 at 2:04 am

I totally agree with you, I compare religion to a strand of Rope…with different paths come the same outcome…Death! And if the dead know nothing then why are there so many “ghost hunter shows, proving life after death”

Anonymous September 14, 2017 at 4:37 pm

Agreed, people in general, religious or not, go to what we know and some if not most blind themselves with pride and arrogance to naming themselves right. Ive spent a majority of my life looking into all religions and its crazy that all talk not just about a higher power but a whole damned hierarchy! it all relates because its always been the same and evolution will eventually change the industrial game but as to being human and choosing in what to beleive in humanity will alway face this same debate for the life they have and the lives they brought

Satan (Carl ) November 20, 2015 at 1:00 am

A foolish statement to say science is a belief, science mean study or knowledge. That is why maxim of law says those who want be fools let them be fools because you’re dead to the universe. Have nothing against any religion that is your choice but I find it shocking when I ask people who is God they could not tell me! Also if you research Christian (crete) mean stupid person: if you can find a good dictionary or concordance dictionary will give you definition.

Francisco December 19, 2015 at 1:22 am

God is your creator. There’s no way this beautiful world and all of its perfectly synced components happened by chance. It’s a master piece. And no canvas has ever painted its self. I think regardless if you know his name or not, he deserves respect. Science may be fact, but what good is a fact without the biggest picture? Science was also created by God, along with the words that you speak, the breath that you take, and the grass you walk on. Everything leads back to a creator. Believing that the way the universe works, the solar system, down to the structure of a cell, is all by chance is madness. Any fact or new discovery found can and will be linked back to God. In the end, science and religion are one.

If no, prove it

Anonymous February 17, 2016 at 12:21 am

You don’t prove a negative. You prove a positive. You prove there is a God. As for this awesomeness created by random chance… Well it’s not random. There are laws that science has proven that govern its creation. Lastly I don’t think respecting a figment of the human mind is needed. Respect for one another and nature though, that is sorely needed. Reprioritize your mind, live in the now and make the most of it.

Anonymous January 9, 2017 at 12:02 pm

Why ask him to prove that god doesn’t exist? You should try and prove that he does exist. But your to busy believing to 1) get your facts straight and 2) see that maybe he’s right and there is no god.

Grey July 17, 2016 at 11:10 pm

I, myself, do believe in the existence of a higher force of creation. And I choose to remain vague about it because my specific spirituality is irrelevant to this response.

That said, even with believing, the statement that there is no way such a beautiful and perfectly synced universe could happen by chance is flawed logic.

It is specifically known as the Watchmaker Fallacy. Look it up, it is pretty interesting.

The claim that the universe is perfectly synced is also quite off the mark. Many things fail to come to full form, or later are destroyed by the very lack of perfection in how the universe is arranged.

I do not believe it all happened by chance, but that does not mean that a claim of beauty or perfection is a valid argument for the claim that such belief is fact.

But that implies that we need to be lead by god, but if god gave us free will then why must we be lead? The fact the bible itself calls us humans sheep makes me feel less human than I actually am. We should not be refereed to as sheep but as people.

Jaymen October 11, 2017 at 1:54 pm

Really? Please dont quote the “Bible”. How many times has it been edited or rewritten now? Its no longer the word of God. Its now the word of man. Man made it into what he wanted it to say. Duh

Yes, pagans were certainly around first. However, only modern pagans really ever use/d the pentacle as an emblem of belief.

I am an Indian Hindu in our culture the Aryan culture that’s supposed to b the oldest known culture a pentagram is a holy symbol, that’s drawn under the sacred fire element vessel it represent the holy mother goddess the feminine motherly force of the universe in some cultures it represent Lucifer too who is none other than the Venus, Venus represent the same femininity. the holy grail the cup the womb of a woman, in Islam there’s holy chand tara or crescent of a moon and a star in Wicca there’s pentagram. i have a symbol of pentagram clear on my palm clear 5 point star upwards and as per astrology it shows the period of the planet Venus that’s 20 years as per astrology

wow, share a photo maybe.

brian h April 7, 2014 at 10:14 pm

the inverted pentagram has different meanings it is a very ancient symbol. to me it represents defiance against the judeo-christian slave represents power of the individual’s true will and is the symbol of personal godhood through complete and total control of one’s life and action unlike christianity likes to blame some fictional devil for their action’s..christian’s are the evil they are this symbol is victory over that not excluding other world religions like (islam, buddhism, hinduism) or any idea that teaches that man must have a outside diety to control man’s life..

Christo-Buddhist June 27, 2014 at 9:51 am

Buddhism teaches that the self sets one free not God. And God does not, He may offer you freedom but you and you alone are at liberty to accept it or to not to. So the next time that you deside to attack religious beliefs other than your own I suugest that you get your facts straight. Also I agree that fools blame outside deity but that still gives you NO right to condemn ANY religious system because only through tolerance will this world change.

Bassbender December 8, 2014 at 2:17 pm

I don’t think he was attacking religions so much as he was explaining why people use the inverted pentagram and how devil worshipers do not have a monoply on it. As fae as brian h’s religious claim based on his post, he is right on the mark on how most christians truly act.

Thibaut March 6, 2015 at 11:57 am

@bassbender- “he is right on the mark on how most christians truly act”- i am not going to pretend that christians are eternally perfect, and its possible that we have not had the same experiences with christians but for me the christians that i have known, not all but the select good few, have been imbued with love and joy to such an extent so that you marvel at what incredible humans they are and honestly i have not encountered this with many other religions (buddhism being one of the few). I understand the corrupt image of Catholicism adopted by many non-christians to categorize all christians by, but just know that that is not all of us and that once again we are only human with human desires.

satan December 25, 2014 at 7:44 pm

first off before you go and try to act all philosophical with your Buddhist bullshit propaganda be prepared to actually spell correctly its decide not deside and don’t attack the writers statement because of your clashing ideology, that is the PROBLEM in this world when we can agree that a being far greater than our own does not control our destiny that we create our destiny that there is no evil we are our own evil that’s when the world will change

Thibaut March 6, 2015 at 11:56 am

besides christo-buddhist, y’all are a bunch of dogmatic idiots. all the religions stated here sound equally as stupid as christianity or Buddhism.
@satan: why the fuck did you name yourself satan? are you a satanist? are you just trying to provoque people? or do you just enjoy the lust of power that comes with naming yourself satan. either way half of your argument “there is no evil we are our own evil” is rationally impossible, how can there be no evil but yet there be evil inside of us. how bout try thinking for half a second and realizing that in fact you dont know shit. that you, probably a firm believer in science, don’t realize that science is also a belief, that every theory or hypothesis is based solely on another hypothesis created by the flawed mind that makes mistakes and is capable of hallucinations (meaning that we could be living in a hallucination which in effect could characterize our body’s interpretation of reality). also there are no scientist that think alike, each has his own theory, and each thinks that his theory is the absolute truth. if you think that math and science answers our questions then why does it only open up more questions. if you know so much please explain to me what the number 1 means? if you think outside the box will realize that the number 1 or any other number is completely abstract and doesn’t mean shit. and yet here you are trying to ridicule other religions saying that the best religion is not to have one. “when we can agree that a being far greater than our own does not control our destiny that we create our destiny”- not all christians/deists believe in determinism (or belief in destiny), those that do dont think that sitting around all day on your ass is going to get you somewhere. And how can you criticize a buddhist who offers enlightenment and who corrects brian h’s misinterpretations of other religions and btw his comment: “unlike christianity likes to blame some fictional devil for their action’s..christian’s are the evil they are against” is without a doubt pejorative and biased to other religions.
All this to say that your religious ideas sound just as stupid as christians inventing the devil, so i would appreciate it if you refrained from making your stereotypical and categorical remarks, and avoid trying to place everyone in your personal utopia where you are in effect the god, the creator, the motor (whatever you want to call it) and everyone else your slave

Anonymous February 17, 2016 at 12:40 am

What a load of fertilizer that was. Good grammar. Proper spelling. You got me. You fooled me into thinking for a moment that you had something intelligent to say. In the end you failed to win me with your arguments against science. Science is not a religious belief. Please don’t portray it as one. Secondly a scientist not willing to look at the data objectively isn’t a scientist but rather an egomaniac suffering from their human condition. A hypothesis is a proposed solution and a theory explains that hypothesis. Can things change as the science improves? Sure, and a scientist should be happy when that discovery is made. Should things unexplained by science be attributable to god? Which one if so? Basically religion is a basic way for a basic mind to resolve they don’t have the answers.

Nina Cooper August 19, 2015 at 12:21 am

Christo-Buddhist- Actually he DOES have a right to condemn whatever he wants, just like you do and just like I do. We are blessed in this country with free speech and freedom of ideas, so we all have the right to condemn whatever we want regardless if it is essentially a stupid statement or not. I had to respond to this post a year later because we are losing our freedom of speech because people are offended by what others are saying. People think now that if they are offended they somehow have a right to stifle someone else’s freedoms. BrianH is obviously ignorant as to world religion (I minored in Religious Studies) but he still has a right to spout his ignorance. Many brave men fought and many died for our freedoms, I am not willing to have it taken away because people are offended. Please protect your right to free speech and use it.

Deus Ominium January 25, 2016 at 7:23 pm

Not one drop of water or blood in this world is perfect.Believing inGod or Gods or not believing at all is your choice and you cant make one renounce what or Who he believes in.You keep on condemning when its not your job. All of you are shouting curses to one another, making life miserable for you and for others. Foolish piece of pond scum you all are, fighting over something that should not be fought for.

Wiccan December 22, 2014 at 12:44 pm

In truth, the inverted pentagram is not inherently “evil,” and is not necessarily a sign of satanic worship.
First and most importantly, know that Satan is a Christian deity. There is no all-evil deity in the Wiccan tradition that corresponds to Satan. Most Pagans believe in neither the existence of such a being nor in the place Christians call Hell. Second, modern satanists adopted the use of the inverted pentagram in the mid-1900′s. Recorded history shows that the pentagram (and even the inverted pentagram) was around long before this time. For example, Pythagoras (mentioned above) and his followers wore inverted pentagrams to identify themselves to each other. Early Christians also wore inverted pentagrams (which they likened to the Star of Bethlehem) as emblems of their faith. Neither of these groups were “evil.” Third, the Pagan Horned God, associated with vitality, sexuality, logic, power, and the hunt, is sometimes depicted within an inverted pentagram. The point-down pentagram is also an emblem of the second-degree initiation in today’s Gardnerian tradition of Wicca. In none of these cases are the labels “evil” or “Satanic” applicable or relevant.

MoonWhisper May 21, 2018 at 10:18 pm

I a fellow wiccan, agree to your said statement. I’ve been practicing for 20 years or longer. I have a respect for my gods ad goddesses. I’m always learning and finding new knowledge and I’m greatful for the brain I was gifted with. Without it i couldnt learn or retain said knowledge.

Buddhism is theology not religion just fyi its a way of life and spiritual but yet not religious they have a buddha that is a real flesh breathing man which they pray to. But lots of people are starting to open their minds and realize that Religion was used for social control watch Zeitgeist its a little anti christian but it explains why

I always was fascinated by the moons brightness in the sky and I think what would I do without it.
And yes I know that the sun looks bright cause the sun reflects off the moon don’t judge me.

The Australian Victorian Police use an inverted pentegram as their symbol. With the words “To serve and protect” (or something to that effect). It represents that they protect the physical body (ie, the upward facing point represents the head, or the mind, of a person and the rest of the star the body. By putting the head or mind underneath the body they show that they are protect the body or that they are the physical protection.)

IO December 31, 2012 at 11:42 pm

The upright pentagram (with the superior three points facing upwards) symbolizes the solar forces (good), the pentagram upside down (with the inferior two points facing upwards) symbolizes the tenebrous forces (evil). This needed to be clarified!

Victoria December 30, 2012 at 4:02 pm

The pentacle is a ritual tool used by Wiccans to symbolize the element of earth. It is a disc that may or may not be inscribed with a pentagram.

The terms “pentacle” and “pentagram” are often confused, by Wiccans and non-Wiccans alike. It has nothing to do with whether a circle is surrounding the star or not. A star within a circle is still a pentagram.

Jennifer May 6, 2013 at 4:54 pm

The concept of a pentacle or panticle existed long before the advent of Wicca. It generally refers to *any* circular magical device on which symbols are inscribed, whether physical or drawn, although the name suggests it was quite specific at an earlier point.

Anita Entz December 21, 2012 at 2:26 pm

OK, I was brought up in the old Methodist way, which was closer to Unitarian. Unfortunately, the wave of “Born Again & Spirit Filled” has even infected my old Church. I am currently following Wicca/Paganism. Mostly because they are familiar with the idea that the Creative Force is too big for us to truly encompass all of its faces, most people in Wicca/Paganism use the faces & names of the various dieties to fit with the end endeavor, or what you are wanting help with. Catholics do it with their Saints (my favorite is St. Francis) The Unitarians believe that no ONE faith has a grasp of ALL the truth, but if we all come together and share the best parts of our various beliefs, we will be closer than we are now.
Blessed Be to All, Merry Meet, Merry Part & Merry Meet Again!

Steve December 6, 2012 at 12:52 am

Yup, true, religions are all man made which is why Jesus, the Messiah, of Man Kind Eixsted and always has and always will came to earth and said, “Look gusy, you gotta it all wrong. Your evolution has come to this point in time, and if you want the answers you’ve been seeking I Am that Way, The Truth, and the Way to Eternal Life. Not one pagan belief ‘system’ can make that claim, provides Eternal Truths, and make the claim that through Him one can receive the Spirit of Existence Itself ,what we call ‘God” and what he called Father as he was the Manifestation of the Essence of Existence in the form of Human because we as humans were not equipped to deal with it back then. Apparently, some are not equipped to deal with it today either and continue to fabricated archaic ‘ideas and systems’ of old. Is that wrong? I would not venture to say, but why when the Answer Has Been revealed? Is it bad upbringing or wrong notions and ideas? yes, including denominations. All these OTHER things are not of God is the reality, they are all man made and have no basis. The proof is in the puddings taste as always though, and until one has received that Spirit within, the rest is head knowledge and ancient rhetoric, so do not even bother ‘telling me anything’ to the contrary because if so, one cannot possibly know what I’m talking about. Maybe one day is suffering bad enough and finds out nature will not save them, they’ll figure it out.

Rivka December 25, 2013 at 11:19 am

Just pointing out that you said religions are made by man, yet you preach about your man made religion being the right path. Jesus is apart of your man made religion. Do not try making everyone else’s path any less important than your own. That sir is Pride which is listed amongst your religions 7 deadly sins.

Anonymous August 10, 2014 at 5:47 pm

Rivka? Your name means life in the hebrew. In case you didn’t know.

pheonix November 30, 2012 at 11:25 am

I would just like to point out that almost every religion has a star in it somewhere, And that the article never said anything about the religions using the same version just that they use simular pentagrams. As for the meanings of the pentagrams its pretty much like the article said the star represents different things to different people and religions. Until we die NO ONE knows what religion if any is the right one so why bad mouth any of them? Personally I’m a Spiritualist I have studied alot of religions I lean more towards old school pagan than any of the others but feel that all of them have truths in them.

As for how individuals and churches interpret scriptures pretty much any religious leader will tell you that the scriptures are guidelines and open to interpretation. From my understanding its kinda like those kids books that have every fifth word taken out and a _____ but in. We are suppose to use them to guide us not to tell us every little detail of our lives so if its not affecting us directly who cares how anyone in particular interprets a story? Now before anyone starts bashing me I openly admit that I have not done any research on this topic in quite sometime and am speaking from memory so alot of what I am saying may be distorted, half truth, or even completely wrong.

Bonson July 14, 2012 at 3:13 am

Oh yeah, a note to all this protains. Research requires cross referencing and tedious deductive reasoning. One cannot simply read what is brought before him without asking vital questions like: Who wrote this body of work?
Why did the author produce this volume? And is it possible that certain facts surrounding the subject might be distorted or obscured in some way? Now people, regardless of your belief system, hopefully we are all adults here. Slander is usually a tool of the igorant and fearful. Besides, one can attract more bees with honey than with vinegar.

Judaism got its name due to the fact that after Nebuchadnezzar displace ten tribes of Israelites after defeating them in war, the remaining to were The tribes of Benjamin and Judah and some scattered Levites. The tribes of Benjamin and the scattered Levites were absorbed into the tribe of Judah, hence Judaism. The key is studing where common known history intersects little known history. The problem is most of y’all not all hate World His 101, American His 101, and etc. If you cant stomach modern history books how can stomach the latter! God Bless all, whom ever you worship. Believers of the godhead ideology you dont have to study Crowley or conform to satanism to elevate oneself. Remember the reason why Lucifer fell was due to the fact Lucifer refused to prostate to Adam thinking himself Gods most perfect creation. Lucifer was known for his superior intelligence absent wisdom of proper application, hence light bearer. Hence Illuminated one. The Morning Star. It is a known controversy that many believe the god of the Old Testement is not the God of the New Test…What say you all? Easy funtamentalist no punch intended;facts is facts.

Bonson July 14, 2012 at 2:40 am

When it says that God lived in 12 houses he meant the different tribes of Israelites and there were 13 original zodiac symbols Ophiuchus. The 13th sign of the zodiac, unlike the other 12 signs is actually associated with a real person. In the 27th Century BCE in Ancient Egypt lived a man known as Imhotep. Imhotep was known as ‘Aesclepius’ by the Ancient Greeks, however the attributes are the same under either name. Sorry Isis your research needs adjustments.

What!? April 15, 2012 at 7:51 pm

a good book to try understand symbols would be the OLDEST The Book of Wisdom or The Wisdom of Solomon (same book dif name) and the key of Solomon u can find. Also just try look around old book stores for some grimoires also oldest u can find, like yellow frail pages old, probably cost you a bit tho.

What!? April 15, 2012 at 7:33 pm

Isis u retard, morning star is Lucifer before he was thrown from heaven ass. i’m not pagan or christian or anything, but i studied a hell of a lot of it and Crowley is an idol to me. i follow my own beliefs and apparently i’m inherently evil.. i just don’t think so, i just think people shouldn’t get in my way and i shouldn’t get in others way ether, i live how i want to, not the way every1 else wants me to. somewhere along the lines religion lost it’s meaning and became more company based than anything. the pentagram in case u haven’t realized. is a star it has 5 points. u can make like a million assumptions of where it came from. but a lot of people use it for lots of reasons. SO, long story short. screw you guys who think YOUR way is the right one. you all have vivid imaginations that’s about the bottom line here.
P.S don’t just go Google and then believe the first thing you read(i see alot of that if i read up). oh and your article at the top is a load of shit, pagans are pagans not anything else or connected to anything else its a different thing entirely. was before religion … it made sense :/

before you openly criticize someone for openly defending her faith, maybe you should do your own research, not just a wiki search. And this is coming from an extremely faithful Christian, but that doesn’t need to mean that I can’t acknowledge previous meanings before the Vatican destroyed them in effort to destroy paganism and force Catholicism.

Liz April 8, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Someone needs to do some research…heavy, real research…and then come back and edit this website. Not just this entry, but all of them. The pentagram, or pentacle, for example, dates back around 1500 years or so before Christianity, representing the sacred feminine and the joining of male and female.

Jennifer April 20, 2012 at 10:02 am

“Ancient Babylonia.” Perhaps before you spout grabage you might actually read what you’re criticizing?

Archie hlongz March 10, 2012 at 1:14 pm

The pentagram represent the movement of the planet Venus.Venus was a known god of the Romans,so…. think about it.

when night cokes March 1, 2012 at 11:58 am

I agree with isis…she’s a pagan i am severly offended that people misenterprtet likr thiat

Justin February 24, 2012 at 12:05 am

Satan, before he became satan, was known as the morning star and bringer of light, hence the latin translation of the name Lucifer. God, nowhere in the hebrew texts, is referred to as these things. if anything, you connecting the title “bringer of light” and “morning star” with the pentagram only further connects the symbol with satanism.
Please get your facts straight yourself before you criticize the way others interpret religious texts. Thank you

Arlen September 21, 2011 at 1:13 pm

We´ve rounding in circles all along… each symbol was understood differently by different cultures and cryteria even ages, the eldest of an ancient tribe would interpret this as a “star” and the young ones as a comet … or a sign or love or nature…. who cares ´we are all connected to each other…so feell free to believe and to create your own true… just try to not harm anyone on your way… Love Always

Well spoken TheGuy. It it a relief to see someone who has actually done some homework on the matter and state facts. Kudos to you!

TheGuy July 8, 2011 at 1:31 am

Hmmmm….. Well, it appears that nearly everyone needs to check their facts more closely.

The only post I read where someone was “enlightening” everyone with their information that did not have incorrect information is M. Mastermann. Everyone else has errors.

Just some quick notes to give some direction for research:
#1- Pagans don’t worship God, they worship other created entities, be that lesser ‘gods’, angels, mother earth, etc.
#2- Christianity is a fairly new religion. Technically speaking though, Christianity is Judaism.
#3- Islam is an even newer religion than Christianity. Technically speaking also, Islam is Judaism.
#4- Lucifer is not the Morning Star.
#5- The religion referred to as Judaism came from an earlier religion that also worshiped only the One God.
#6- Judaism is referred to as ‘Judaism’ because the most popular group who practiced it were the Jewish people.
#7- The pentagram is not a pagan symbol as many like to believe. This article is correct in its description of the pentagram.

Don’t bother arguing with me. I don’t care if you believe me. I have done the research myself, so I know what I have stated is correct. If you don’t like something that I have said and disagree, please go and do all the research you can and find out all the information you can on the subject to prove me wrong. When you have discovered the truth, you will be a wiser person for it. Spread the truth.

I agree with all of what you said except a portion of #5.. Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all Abrahamic religions.. meaning that they can all meet back to one person, Abraham. Abraham was born 2000 years prior to the Jewish man named Yashua (Jesus to Christians) entering the picture. Abraham was born in Ur, which lies in modern day Iraqi, a stones throw from Nassriah. The people of Ur built a beautiful worship alter known as the Ziggurat of Ur (which still stands) for the Moon High Goddess Nanna, although they were not monotheistic. Abraham, the fore father of these 3 major monotheistic religions (beginning with Judaism), was born into polytheism. Judaism had only become monotheistic a mere 1500 years before Yashua was born. So, there fore the claim that Judaism originated from a previously monotheistic religion is neither founded nor a historical possibility.

FYI for anyone who thinks my comment is bias do to religion, I am Agnostic raised Messianic Jew. That truly means, I know that there is a higher power, however I can not claim to know what it is as there is not enough factual WHOLE truths for my liking. Therefore, I educate myself.. and not from blogs or Wikipedia or even Google. I read, A LOT.. I take any class I can that will even give me a portion of the answer. There are a lot of people who know half the story, actually more like a quarter of the story. I fully believe that if enough knowledge is gained, then all of these half and quarter truths will lead me in the direction of the complete picture. I do not claim to know any more than that of my fellow man, however, I do not speak of things that I do not have a full grasp on. Too many individuals open their mouths to degrade or prove wrong their fellow man without truly knowing what they speak of. Many are either blinded by faith or are simply sheep and do what is told of them without asking why.. One must always ask questions, that is how we learn and in turn become closer to the WHOLE truth!

@TheGuy Thank you so very much for your post, and please do not take my reply as disrespect. Actually, it is quite the opposite. You are quite knowledgeable and I could not pass by without sharing my love of knowledge with you, as shared in respect of your own.

path June 28, 2011 at 12:41 am

there is so much wrong here i dont even know where to start to try to correct any of it. there is wrong in many parties, and thats because different books interpret things differently. i dont care about your religion in your argument, what you are is invalid to prove a point. until someone cites something, i consider all of the arguing wrong because i have seen most of it differently, but the scriptures leave it up for debate. i dont feel like citing it because i would spend too much time doing so. i wish you the best of luck in your pursuit to flame each other and remember this one simple quote:
” its strange isnt it? people would rather believe authority as the truth rather than truth as the authority.”

emobrat June 13, 2011 at 10:25 pm

i don’t care what everyone else thinks but i agree with Isis almost everyone misinterprets the bible expesiolly the churches they say thing how THEY think thing SHOULD be said not how they actually are i know i was raised Christian!

Carson May 18, 2011 at 9:07 pm

Wow, Isis you need a spelling lesson. Supposedly free will was granted to man by God. Personnally I don’t believe in organized religion. Man is too corrupt to have that much power over the people. In a thousand years Democracy could be interpreted as a religion.

LUCIFER September 27, 2010 at 9:57 am

Isis als die die alle namen kennt müsste dies eigentlich wissen

im übrigen sind viele

T July 23, 2010 at 8:48 am

Uhh…Isis you are very confused. In the bible, the lightbearer aka morning star is none other than Lucifer. When Lucifer was cast out of heaven, he was then referred to as Satan/Devil. Satan is the ENEMY OF GOD AND CHRIST. Do not be confused. Check your facts.

Isis June 21, 2010 at 9:01 pm

When they talk about god lives in 12 houses in his mansion they talk about the 12 zodiac houses…
No wonder christians dont understand the bible what it says in the old testament and inturp it wrong..even the churches do..look hoe the church has wrote in the new testament under the revelation. They talk against the old testament. :/

Isis June 21, 2010 at 6:04 pm

Venus is connected to the symbol of Balance=Libra!
If u inturp the bible correctly in the old testament u will find that all is about the universe and the zodiac symbols…
Read the book of Job,Luke, matthew,Corinthians,marthian,Mark,Euhthisians..

Isis June 21, 2010 at 6:00 pm

It is the sun, moon, saturn, mars.It is called the star of the middle of the pentacle it is the star or the sun or as it called “the giver of life”..GOD=lightbearer!! In the bible god is also called the lightbearer or the morningstar. The bringer of light!!

Isis June 21, 2010 at 5:49 pm

TRhis symbol is also used in other religions as Islam but is changed a little bit..but has the same meaning…

Isis June 21, 2010 at 5:47 pm

..and for that matter i belive in some things in the christian bible too bec it is connected with my belifs but the chuch has also fucked some things up..some things are missing and some things has the chuch inturped wrong too.
The bible comes also from the pagans eg from the beginning..The OLD TESTAMENT!!!

Isis June 21, 2010 at 5:45 pm

Bahahhahaha I cant belive what i read! I am an Pagan and this shits me off badly!!
No wonder we pagans are seen as EVIL..All pagans are not Wiccans and i dont want even satanists to be connected with me!!
We are not evil! we are of love and light of the universe! BALANCE!!! Read the scriptures search the truth about this powerful symbol and the real pagans..It is even in the holy bible and other religions u morons if u can inturp the scriptures correctly!!..It is an sign for god and the universe and the heavens and earth, an holy symbol!
My belifs as an pagan is also from the christian side..
Pagans were the first that came before christ and christianity!!
U must search back in the beginning of times to understand ALL!!!

M. Mastermann July 5, 2009 at 7:32 pm

Pentagram represents the basic flow pattern of 5 aspects of LIFE energy or ki, chi, prana… Our 5 fingers of 2 hands correspond to these aspects flows/contraflows; 2 x 10 in total.
Little finger – Mineral touches the world.
Annular finger – Plant touches and tastes the world.
Middle finger – Animal touches, tastes and smells the world.
Index finger – Human touches, tastes, smells and see the world.
Thumb – Magus touches, tastes, see and understand the world .
