Jennifer:
I have a question for you. This one is important. I am looking for information I once had and now it is gone. I need to do some research from that text. I am looking for the history and the meaning of the four gates. The North, East, West and South Gates. And all the information of the guardians of those gates. Can you help me?

Does anyone know any modern symbols of time passing?

I would suggest that any symbol of death or the speed of time is a reminder to live in the present. The skull, hourglass, or even ‘tempus fugit!” (time flies) would serve such a purpose.
